a few ideas

1) being able to drop or pick up weapons on the battle field might be a good idea?like if you kill an npc you may be able to pick up the weapon they  had for the remainder of the match/mission/battle
2) have weapon weight effect boost and walking speed and jump height?
3) more powerful weapons should have force a mech to stop to use them sort of like in AC where you have to kneel to brace yourself for back weapons
4) recoil on weapons might make it more challenging like when you shoot your target recticle could shake and maybe move off target slightly so you would have to actively compensate for  it
5) stealth power ups that can make you invisible to radar and/or to plain sight maybe in the form of a part that  could be picked up in the field and used on a very limited basis during battle but not carried over to other  battles
6) head parts with different levels of radar including stealth detection at short range
7) self destruct option for awesome kamikaze tactics!
8) a repair cost system
9) specific part damage

i relies this will all be very  hard to do  but these are just some suggestions that i feel would make a good mech game
